Best Ph.D. Thesis Award

During the EUSFLAT 2010 General Assembly, held in Dortmund, June 29, it was approved to establish two awards for the Best Ph.D. Thesis presented during each one of the two immediate complete years previous to each EUSFLAT conference.


Therefore, with this call we encourage young researchers who got their Ph.D. degree between January 1st 2009 and December 31st 2010 to apply to these awards.

The EUSFLAT Best Ph.D. Thesis Awards will be acknowledged during the EUSFLAT2011 conference, to be held in Aix les Bains, France (July 18-21, 2011) jointly with the “Rencontres francophones sur la Logique Floue et ses Applications”, LFA.


The EUSFLAT Best Ph.D. Thesis Award will be given attending to the following regulation:


– Award must be properly announced in EUSFLAT conference web site
– The applicant should have obtained the Ph.D. degree in the two complete years previous to each EUSFLAT conference
– The Ph.D. advisor supporting the applicant should be a EUSFLAT paying member when submitting application to this award
– Application to this award should be submitted in concordance to the general deadline given in the conference call for papers
– The applicant should provide the EUSFLAT President (currently Prof. Javier Montero,president@eusflat.org) with the following documentation:

  • • A web site where each member of the Award Commission can download the electronic final version of the Ph.D. thesis
  • • A copy of the signed application form containing
  • • Name, affiliation, address and e-mail of the applicant
  • • Title of the Ph.D. Thesis
  • • Place and date of public defence
  • • Declaration of presence at the award ceremony
  • • Short report from any of the Ph.D. advisors stressing merits of the applicant and the relevance of presented results
  • • Ph.D. advisor EUSFLAT membership data

 


– A copy of the complete documentation must be simultaneously sent to the EUSFLAT board member in charge of prizes (currently Prof. Bernard De Baets)
– Once the list of applicants is complete, the EUSFLAT board will nominate the President and the Vice-President of the Award Commission
– The EUSFLAT board will help the President and Vice-President of the Award Commission to contact other specialists to become part of the Award Committee or provide anonymous reports
– One month before the EUSFLAT Conference, the President of the Award Commission will translate to the President of EUSFLAT their decision, accompanied with a short explanatory report to be read in the award ceremony
– Each awarded applicant will receive, in addition to the Award itself, a 200 Euro valued prize plus a one year free subscription to EUSFLAT
